YORKTOWN, N.Y. - More than a dozen Yorktown High School students and teachers who made a weekend trip to Boston left before the Boston Marathon began Monday, school officials confirmed Tuesday.
The Yorktown High School orchestra was visiting Boston over the weekend but left before the start of Monday's Boston Marathon. Bombs went off near the finishing line Monday afternoon, sending more than 170 people to the hospital and killing three others, according to previous reports . School officials confirmed Tuesday that all of the students and staff made the return trip to Yorktown safely.
"They were on their route on their way back from Boston when everything came down," said Karli Wheeler, media manager for the Yorktown Central School District. "I talked to the orchestra teacher and everyone is fine, and they made it back to Yorktown safely."
