A donation drive is being held at Yorktown High School Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon for a longtime bus driver who lost everything in a house fire.

"This devoted individual has faithfully and safely transported the children of Yorktown on her bus for more than 30 years," Superintendent Ron Hattar said. "I am asking our community to rally together to offer our support.

The school district is declining to name the bus driver and Superintendent Ron Hattar said he did not know where the fire occurred, only that it was not in Yorktown.

A yellow school bus will be parked near the tennis courts to accept donations of any and all household items like plates, cups, silverware, pots, pans, kitchen items, pantry items, blankets, bedding, pillows, clothing, small electronics, small appliances, small furniture, and lamps. Items can be new or gently used. Monetary and gift card donations will also be accepted.

"I thank you in advance for your overwhelming support of an individual who has served our children, in all of the schools, over the last 30 years," Hattar said. "I look forward to seeing you this Saturday."
