YORKTOWN, N.Y. Forty-four students in the Science Research Program from Yorktown High School participated in the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair last weekend, and 90 percent of those students won awards.
Students from Yorktown brought home half of the highest honors at WESEF. Five will attend ISEF, or the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, and three will attend the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, Environment) Project Olympiad. The competition, which took place on March 10, featured Yorktown students and students from 32 other high schools.
The honors of attending the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and the International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, Environment) Project Olympiad were awarded to Yorktown students.
Laura Anderson, Frank and Lily Cao, Kathleen Mavrommatis, and Priya Mohindra will all attend ISEF in Pittsburgh, Pa., May 13-18.
Based on her presentation at the Westchester fair, Miwa Wenzel will attend ISWEEEP; based on the submission of research papers, Tanvi Tiwari and David "Linus" Hamann will also attend ISWEEEP in Houston from May 3 to 8.
