YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Yorktown High School student Lauren Boutross wanted to bring her love of dance to her grandparents in Tarrytown.
"They have been unable to attend my dance shows lately, so I decided to bring the show to them," Boutross said. "They inspired me to spread my love of dance with them and the other residents.
Last month Boutross, along with seven other students from Yorktown High School, performed a dance show at the Tarrytown Hall Care Center. The students performed different kinds of dance, including ballet, hip hop, jazz, Irish, Latin, swing and hustle.
Yorktown High School Principal Joseph DeGennaro commended Lauren and the other students.
Lauren is a creative and patient person, and as the President of the Dance Company this year, it is no surprise that she would coordinate this entire experience for the benefit of these seniors," he said.
Each of the eight students, Luis Lizarzaburu, Alison O'Connell, Aneek Halperin, Cristina Zangaglia, Dana DeGennaro, Diana Pernicano, Jake Hernandez and Boutross, are also members of the Yorktown High School Dance company, which has more than 100 students who meet daily during the school year.
