Laughlin, a former U.S. Marine from Yorktown, said Brookside's contribution is one of the largest in the area. The annual toy drive will provide gifts for roughly 900 local families in need.
Last year, the school collected 495 toys, officials said.
"They smashed last year's record," Laughlin said. "This is unbelievable and one of the largest collections in the area."
School officials said they are happy to help.
“I love that we can truly make a difference and bring joy to so many families in need. It is all about giving to others and spreading kindness during the holiday season. It is a positive experience for everybody,” said teacher Lisa Santosusso.
