Cortlandt's Gonzalez In World League Field Hockey Tournament

CORTLANDT, N.Y. - Former Lakeland High School field hockey star Melissa Gonzalez was a starter Sunday for the U.S. Women's Field Hockey team playing in the World League Semi-Final in London.

Gonzalez, who was also a star at the University of Connecticut, played for the U.S. in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The U.S. team lost a 2-1 decision to Italy in the second match of pool play Sunday.

The Americans next play No. 7 China on Tuesday in the final match of pool play. China has a win against Italy and a loss against Argentina in the four-team pool. The U.S. team has a chance to advance in the tournament with a victory.
