GREENBURGH, N.Y. – The Irvington Bulldogs continue to steamroll the competition in pursuit of a third consecutive state championship.

Irvington thrashed Saranac Central, 64-31, on Friday in Troy to earn a spot in the Class B state championship game. The Bulldogs will face South Jefferson, which defeated Aquinas, 47-41, in the other semifinal game.

Irvington started the game on a 21-0 run until Saranac finally scored with 2:43 left in the first quarter and led 29-8 after eight minutes. The Bulldogs led 38-12 at halftime and opened up their largest lead of the game, 60-14, at the end of the third quarter.

"I thought we played great today. We played great team ball and our defense is what got us started on offense," said Brittni Lai. "Tomorrow should be a good game but I'm just going to take it as a normal game. I just want to win a state championship!"

Lexi Martins, the Bulldogs’ force in the paint, recorded her 1,000th career rebound in the game.

Irvington will face South Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. Saturday for the state championship.
