SHRUB OAK, N.Y. – Lakeland will be well-represented when the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championships open Saturday.

Freshman Emma Bozek is a starter on the Atlantic Coast Conference champion North Carolina Tar Heels. North Carolina earned the top seed in the tournament and will host Stanford Saturday

Freshman Shannon Scavelli starts for the University of Michigan, the Big 10 runner-up to fourth-seeded Penn State. The Wolverines open play with Old Dominion Saturday immediately following the Stanford-UNC game.

Should North Carolina and Michigan win, they would meet Sunday. It would be the second game of the season between the teams. North Carolina defeated Michigan, 5-1, Aug. 25 with Bozek scoring her first college goal.

During their Lakeland careers, Bozek and Scavelli led the Hornets to three consecutive Section 1 Class B and New York State titles.
