Lakeland School Board Honors Walter Panas HS Girls Tennis Team

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - The Lakeland Central School District Board of Education saluted the Walter Panas High School Girls' Tennis Team at its meeting on Thursday, Nov. 20.

The team finished its regular season undefeated for the first time in team history while winning the Conference I, League B title with a record of 15-0.

"The team's success can be attributed to depth and unity on the squad. Everyone believed in each other and supported one another. Each member of the team contributed at least one victory this season," said coach Santa Trawick who has coached the team for 13 years.

This was first time the team took the title alone. The team tied for first in the league in 2007 and 2012.

These are the team members:

Seniors: Sarah Caplan, Olivia Delau, (captain), Teresa Mastracchio (captain)

Juniors: Amanda Brown, Miah Cohall, Julie Duffy, Shreya Kumar, Bridgette Olumhense, Ally Parpounas, Simona Popa, Kate Salkowitz, Marisa Swift

Sophomores: Mya Lipscomb, Serena Stevenson

Freshman: Kellie Brown
