WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Goalies from neighboring counties in New York and Connecticut will have a lot to say this weekend about which team wins the NCAA women's lacrosse championship.

Alex Fitzpatrick, a redshirt senior from Yorktown, figures to start in goal for Maryland in Friday's semifinal against Syracuse. In the other semifinal, Darien's Caylee Waters figures to be between the pipes for North Carolina as it meets Duke.

Friday's semifinals at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Duke-North Carolina game. Maryland and Syracuse meet at 7:30. The winners advance to Sunday's title game.

Fitzpatrick, a Lakeland High grad, switched to Maryland for her final year of eligibility. She has a 19-1 record with a .464 save percentage. She earned first team All-Patriot League honorswhile playing at Lehigh last year. She was eligible to play at Maryland after missing her sophomore year due to injury.

Waters has a 15-3 record for North Carolina. She was named a first-team All-American and has a .500 save percentage.

There are no Fairfield County or Westchester County players on the rosters of Syracuse and Duke. North Carolina's roster also includes Lindsay Scott, a senior from Yorktown Heights; Sammy Jo Tracy, a sophomore from Bedford and Fox Lane High School; Sarah Scott, a senior from Yorktown and Lindsay's twin sister; Kate Burbank, a sophomore from Bedford Corners and Fox Lane; and Greenwich freshman Carolyn Paletta.
