Steer Honors Student-Athlete Graduates At In Westchester Spring Celebration

RYE BROOK, N.Y. - Steer For Student Athletes held its spring celebration Friday evening at the Hilton Westchester, honoring 2016 Steer graduates from Port Chester High School.

Steer 2016 graduates honored at the event were Sam Brown, Montserrat Cardenas, Steven Hernandez, Shannon Maguire and Rayder Sanchez.

Sports Illustrated writer Alex Wolff was a keynote speaker at the event, which also included comments from Steer Executive Director and Co-Founder Michael Eck and Steer Coordinator Byron Womack.

The Steer program, in collaboration with Alex Wolff, hopes to inspire and educate many on the pressing problem in the school systems today. Alex Wolff’s 2011 SI article “Sports Saves the World,” has served as the inspiration for, and motive behind, the Steer For Student Athletes concept.
