SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Mahopac's father-and-son teammates -- father Jim and son Adam Massi -- combined to drive in five runs to lead the Shrub Oak Pirates to a 16-1 victory over the Westchester Giants in Men's Senior Baseball League game at Rumbrook Park in Greenburgh.

The Massi father and son duo supported effort by pitchers Don Tracey (Sleepy Hollow) and Bob Kraft who held the Giants to one run on six hits. Tracey and Giants' left-hander Derrick Williams pitched three innings of scoreless baseball.  In the fourth, Bruce Segala singled and scored on a long triple by Matt Miller.

Tracey (7-1) held the Giants to a run on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk through six innings of work.  Kraft (2 K's, 1 BB) finished with two innings of scoreless relief.

Anthony Ascanio was hit by a pitch (one of three times in the game), Bill Demersky (Yorktown) singled, Ed Smilkstein drove in a run with a fly ball to center and Jim Massi singled in another for a 4-0 lead. In their half of the fourth, the Giants' Rob Horne singled, advanced on a ground ball and scored on a base hit by Bill Goodfliesch.

Segala and Miller delivered run scoring hits as the visitors added four runs in the fifth inning. Demersky led off the Pirate seventh with a long double off the center field fence. Jim Massi and Anthony Sottile (Mahopac) followed with line drive RBI singles. Segala drew a bases loaded walk and Miller drove in two more runs with his third base hit.  Adam Massi capped the outburst with a long, base-clearing, three-RBI double to center.

Over their last four games, Pirate pitchers have limited opposing hitters to just two runs in 33 innings.

The Pirates (15-3) host the Westchester Mets at 9 a.m. on Sunday, August 24 in a doubleheader at the Lakeland High School ball field in their final games before September playoffs.
