Lakeland Field Hockey Makes History Not Once…

The Lakeland High School field hockey team became the first team in New York State history to win four consecutive state championships. The Hornets captured their sixth state title since 2003 and have seven overall.

…But Twice

Lakeland field hockey coach Sharon Sarsen became just the second coach in New York State history to reach 500 career wins. She accomplished the feat in her 31st season when the Hornets defeated Somers, 6-0, in October.

Lakeland Grad Makes Olympic Team

Former Lakeland field hockey star Melissa Gonzalez made the United States Women’s Olympic field hockey team that competed in London this summer. Gonzalez graduated from Lakeland in 2007 and led the team to two state titles.
