“You’ll have a fantastic time participating in a family-oriented or competitive event that benefits local food pantries,” says Yorkville Sports Association President Al Morales.
The 2015 Turkey Bowl will benefit local food pantries including Yorktown Community Help (YCH), a Yorktown-based nonprofit that was founded in the 1960s. Its purpose is to provide food to individuals and families in need. YCH is 100 percent volunteer run and will be accepting donations and non-perishable foods at the event.
The tournament will be held at Navajo Fields at the Yorktown Sports Complex, which is donating their fields. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the competitive divisions. All ages are welcome in the family division.
Every player will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. The cost to participate is $35/player. The cost for students is $20/player with a valid student id.
Team check in begins at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 with the first game begins at noon.
Winners will walk away with fabulous prizes: The winning team will receive full color championship pennies and gift certificates to local eateries. The MVP for the tournament will receive a football. In addition, prizes will be going to Team MVPs, Outstanding Athletic Recognition Award, Most Sportsmanship Award and the Muddiest Player Award.
The event will also include a 50/50 Football Toss Accuracy Challenge! Activities will run from noon to 3 p.m. To register a team or for more information, visit: ysaleagues.com/turkeybowl; call 914-962-8390 ext. 14, or email marketing@ysaleagues.com.
