Players around the tristate area also participated in a home run derby, which allowed Wiffleballers to demonstrate their prowess with the long ball. Proceeds of the event were donated to Alliance for Safe Kids, a Yorktown based nonprofit that provides services for youth and families. “We are proud to offer this tournament in Yorktown and encourage the community to participate with us in support of ASK,” said Al Morales, president of the Yorkville Sports Association, which has organized sports leagues in the New York tristate area for over 30 years. Winners of Wifftoberfest include: First place: Chico’s Bail Bonds (from Long Island) Second place: Bronx Royals (from The Bronx) Third place: Wiffleball Hero’s (from SUNY Albany) Home run derby winners were: First place: Henry Rivera (Bronx) Second place: Julio Hernandez (Bronx) Sponsors of the event included the Navajo Field at the Yorktown Sports Complex, D. Bertoline and Sons, Jake’s Wayback Burgers, Little Sorrento’s, Piazza Roma, Savannah’s, the Westchester Diner, Yorktown Pizza and Pasta, Rita’s of Yorktown and Kirby’s Bar and Grill.
