Yorktown Over-40 League Rolls To Playoffs

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Yorktown Recreation Department’s Over-40 Softball League completed its regular season last week and will hold its seed qualifying games and playoffs Sunday at Downing Park Field. In the East Division, the Renegades earned the top seed with a 10-2 record followed by Murphy’s and the Bombers with a 6-6 records.

The Bombers topped Murphy’s 7-1 in week three, but Murphy’s finished at No. 2 will have home field advantage as the two teams square off again is round one of the playoffs. The Bombers are the No. 3 seed.

The No. 4 seed headed for a meeting with the top-seeded Renegades will be determined by the winner of the Hellman Electric (5-7) and Manhattan Beer (5-7) game. The teams split two regular-season games and will play for the No. 4 seed.

In the West Division, Southside Inn ends a successful route to the playoffs finishing first with a 10-2 record. The Chapman Agency (9-3) grabbed the No. 2 seed and both teams will now have a bye the first round. The Neighbors (8-4) will take on 12 Angry Men (6-6) and The Unknowns’ (8-4) will play host to the Diamondbacks (7-5) in first round play.
