in what was a relatively close game all the way - and with the thermometer at 91 - it was Yorktown that held on for an 8-5 victory, claiming the 39th sectional title in program history, and the team's sixth-straight Class B crown

Dom Cioffi was named Offensive MVP for the Cornhuskers after scoring a hat trick. Goaltender Liam Donnelly took home Defensive MVP honors.

Goals from Jay's Josh Rubin and Jack Gorman gave the second-seeded Indians a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. But a four-goal outburst from Yorktown gave the defending champs a 6-4 edge at the break, and Jay's offense stalled in the second half, producing just one score.

Yorktown gets to play a game at home next Wednesday in the regionals, taking on the Section 2 champion at 3 p.m. Yorktown lost in the state semifinals last year.
