Yorktown Rec Softball League Crowns Four Champions

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Finally able to play through several rainouts over the last two weeks, the Yorktown Recreation Softball League completed its summer softball session Sunday with champions in four divisions.

“We finally got the games in,” Yorktown Recreation Supervisor Todd Orlowski said. “We had to play the semifinals and finals of the Over-40 league all in one weekend due to the rainouts. Now we are gearing up for fall softball, which begins after Labor Day.”

In the Over-40 league West Division, 12 Angry Men won three straight games, defeating The Neighbors 15-5 in to win the title. The Over-40 West was won by Renegades 12-7 over Manhattan Beer. The Shell/7-11 mens’ softball team defeated Benchwarmers 4-3 in 10 innings to win the Yorktown Recreation American League Division title last Friday.

In the National League Division championship playoffs, Boys of Summer defeated Finnegan’s Grill 4-3 in the title game and a team representing Finnegan’s Grille topped the Bayside Tigers 7-4 in the International League championship.
