Yorktown, Somers Student Commits To Playing Lacrosse At West Point

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Northern Westchester’s Nick Garofano, who attended schools in Yorktown and Somers, will sign to play lacrosse at West Point.

Nick Garofano attended Yorktown schools through grade 8; then Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers; then  Williston Northampton in Easthampton, Mass., where he holds career and season football records.

As an eighth-grader at Middle E. Strang Middle School in Yorktown, Nick was a starter on the Yorktown High varsity ice hockey team. He holds the following records in Williston Northampton’s football program:

  • Career record for rushing: 260 rushes for 2,214 yards (8.51 yards per carry)
  • Career record for scoring: 228 points 
  • Season record (junior year) for rushing: 1,123 yards on 125 carries
  • Season record (junior year) for scoring: 126 points
  • Career receiving stats: 42 catches for 736 yards (17.52 yards per reception) · 

He was recruited by Williston Northampton to play ice hockey. He switched to football and lacrosse.
