YORKTOWN, N.Y. - A downed tree has knocked down wires on a busy Yorktown street, leading to an outage affecting nearly 1,000 residents.

The Yorktown Police Department issued an alert on Monday morning cautioning that a downed tree Hanover Street, in the vicinity of Maple Court was down, with NYSEG reporting that 979 town residents were reporting that they were without power.

A second tree on Eleanor Drive, between Cross Road and Valleyview Street was also down, blocking an entire roadway. Con Edison has been warned of the conditions, as there are primary wires on the ground.
