After a few months of detours, the bridge over Wappinger Creek on New Hamburg Road has reopened.
Work on the bridge, which began in the spring and came in on time and on budget, included repairs to the bridge deck and portions of steel elements including the installation of new sections of steel.
Other repairs included new bearings, bridge deck, and rail, said the Dutchess County Department of Transportation.
“We thank our residents and commuters for your patience over the last several months as crews worked to complete this bridge project which serves as a key connector to the New Hamburg train station,” said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.
New Hamburg Road averages approximately 5,800 vehicles per day.
