Not stated is the large amount of bonding that is wanted, or the issue of bonds to pay off other debts, which all add up to millions. They are silent taxes, and not reflected in the budget numbers. It will not be long before they want mega million turf fields again. View Comment
For all of us who travel the Parkway we should say a loud thank you to Supervisor Puglisi for all her efforts in getting this done. A big Thank You. View Comment
What about the staff that was buying from him, our schools are in drug free zones should not these staff members be discplined? What would the penalties be for a student found selling or buying drugs on school grounds? For other staff and this so called "good" teacher doing this on school grounds shows a complete lack of respect for the district, students, and people in our community. View Comment
I hope the new one will stay up longer than the present one, the Brooklyn Bridge has been standing for over 129 years yet the TPZ is falling down after 57? What did the Roebling family know that the builders of the TPZ did not? View Comment
Mr. political hack Jenkins do you not come from Mt. Vernon where shootings are almost a weekly event? Where have you been all this time they are happening? Not once that I can remember have you spoken out on gun control, now that you see an opptunity for your run as county exec. do you become so out spoken. Please do us a favor and go away, far away. Jenkins does remember andy and longs for the days when he and andy could play in the big Westchester sand box wasting millions and having a great time with the rest of the merry band, playtime is over mr. jenkin. View Comment
60 years to shut down that would be ok, by then the good ship lollipop (clearwater) will rot and sink into the radiated Hudson with all the anti nukes types aboard it. View Comment
Not to worry when they close the plants the River Keepers, governor, and his majesty obumma will put a windmill in everyone's front yard for free and the cost savings for electricity will more than offset the taxes paid by the plants. View Comment
Are we supposed to feel sorry for a group who evaded 56 million dollars by spending more in their store? First pay the 56 mil and maybe I will return. View Comment
The chickens have come home to roost, for way too long school districts are run by a very small group of people who put their special interests way ahead of the general community who pay for their spend and tax abuse. If the tax cap had been in place, they would not be facing such short falls. Yes the state does impose unfunded mandates but that is not the real problem, contracts and spending that should never been given or done are. View Comment
Wish the Kennedy’s would just go away, time after time have demonstrated their holier than thou attitude that they are above the rules that govern the rest of us. Even John, John thinking he had such superior skills to fly with so little experience under the conditions of that night when he was offered the services of a professional pilot. The biggest fraud of all is Robert Kennedy Jr. when the proposal for windmills in Nantucket Sound was presented he and the rest of the clan protested loudly and long, as it would ruin their views, yet he goes around telling everyone else to put one in their front yard. Talk about chutzpah. View Comment
If you have been to a dollar store now you can go to a $1.50 store same sort of cheap made, overstocked or unnamed goods but for a few dollars more. View Comment
The president of the CSEA union has said she wants an agreement that has a no layoff clause if they agree to pay a portion of their health plan. NO layoffs, what planet does this woman Pecora live on certainly not here on earth with the rest of us. Who in their right mind thinks she and her union members are entitled to a no lay off contract for agreeing to pay a portion of their health plan? She and they should be so happy to have one, in the real world she would be paying 15 to 25% of it. Next, she will want wording that says they all have lifetime jobs just for working in the public sector. With leadership like she displays no wonder the county is such a mess.

Good try but it is time to give taxpayers a break and come in with a zero tax increase. We have to look at the budget and see if there are any meaningful reductions in departments. There are always reductions possible. View Comment
Thanks for the effort, but what Cortlandt needs these days is a zero increase in taxes. I am interested in seeing the full budget and if there were any meaningful reductions in department budgets as some of us will be paying an increase of close to 3%. View Comment
To add insult to injury wait and see the increase Con Ed will request to the PSC. They will say it is needed because of the cost to restore the power, and the lost revenues they incurred. If it were not for a group of workers from Mississippi, our neighborhood would still not have power.
