Rain Can't Rain on Yorktown's Parade

YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The rain didn’t stop Wednesday night, but neither did the parade.

Yorktown Fire Company #1 started off five days of carnival fun with its annual parade, which looped around the streets of Yorktown starting at about 7 p.m.

Despite the rain that pelted and drenched spectators and participants, the parade was a flurry of excitement, music and marching. Several municipalities participated in the event, including Yorktown, Mahopac Falls, Mohegan Lake, Danbury, Somers, Croton and Montrose.

In between the lights flashing and sirens blaring from fire, police  and EMS trucks, there were groups playing music and waving as the young spectators in the crowd applauded their efforts.

The parade marked the beginning of the carnival, which will continue until Sunday. The carnival will be open Saturday 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
