The city hosted the first ever Peekskill Vintage Grand Prix which featured car enthusiasts from throughout the tri-state area showing off their vintage wheels.

More than 50 classic cars paraded through the streets of downtown Peekskill including Austin-Healeys, MGs, Jaguars, Corvettes, Rolls-Royces, Porches, and Mustangs. Entry was open to classic cars 50 years and older.

The event was presented by the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce and conceived by car enthusiast Richard Pepe, who organizes the Carmel Mission Classic in California.

“I hope this becomes a signature event in the Hudson Valley,” said Pepe.

Before and after the parade of cars, each vehicle was on display for spectators to see the vehicles up close and to meet their owners.

Judy Johnson, a Somers resident, received the Grand Prix trophy for her 1955 MG TF1500 2-door convertible.
