Friday, May 3
Yorktown’s Paint The Town Purple: 9 a.m. Official kick off to Paint the Town Purple at the YCCC building. Purple decorations will adorn street, businesses, homes, schools and school buses.
The “Yorktown Voice:” 7 p.m. Yorktown residents will get a local spin on the hit TV show “The Voice.” For “Yorktown Voice,” 12 talented singers will perform and compete with attendees voting for their favorites at the Putnam National Golf Club.
Somers Library Gaming Club: 3 p.m. The Somers Library hosts the Gaming Club, where kids can play games on the Nintendo Wii, card games and board games. This club is always open to new members throughout the school year and is intended for middle and high school students
Saturday, May 4
SPCA of Westchester Walkathon And Pet Fair: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Westchester County’s largest pet-related event includes games, activities and crafts for kids and adults alike. Activities for families and pets will be held throughout the day at the park. FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights.
Sunday, May 5
MHA 5K Run/Walk For Boston: 8 to 11:30 a.m. The Mental Health Association of Westchester’s ninth annual 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Kids’ Race will join the “#runforboston” movement, which honors last month’s Boston Marathon victims and runners. MHA is asking participants to wear blue and yellow to demonstrate their solidarity in the event, which will be held at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights.
Hilltop Hanover Historic House Tour of Yorktown: 11 a.m. One of the highlights of the week’s events includes the Historic House Tour set. As a part of the tour, residents will visit six private homes with rich local history. Most of the homes date back to the era of the tenant farmers of Van Cortlandt Manor.
