Yorktown Group Answers Questions On Hormonal Therapy For Breast Cancer

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown Heights based cancer support organization, Support Connection, Inc., offers a free program, Hormonal Therapy For Breast Cancer Wednesday, March 30.

Hormonal therapy is commonly used to treat breast cancer that is estrogen-receptor positive, said the release. It may be used at different points in a treatment plan and to treat various stages of breast cancer. 

This program will address the following:

  • What are the different hormonal therapy options? 
  • What is the latest research? 
  • What are the side effects and how can they be managed?
  • Should treatment continue for 5 years, 10 years, or forever? 

Speaker Dr. Mary Kay Barton, an oncologist, has practiced in Westchester for 20 years, currently in Purchase, and is on staff at Northern Westchester Hospital and Phelps Memorial Hospital. 

Her practice includes a variety of cancers with a special interest and focus on breast cancer. Dr. Barton has written and edited a wide range of educational materials for patients and professionals and is currently a contributing editor for the American Cancer Society. 

Support Connection, Inc., is an organization that provides free, confidential support services and programs to people affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
