It's Halloween and time to fill up the candy bowl and scare up a good time.

Americans will spend about $8.4 billion in 2016, with 171 million people celebrating, an all-time record, says the balance.com.

Last year 157 million jumped into the fun, and plunked down $6.9 billion or $74.34 per person.

The call for candy took $2.1 billion, while $2.5 billion went towards costumes and $1.9 billion towards decorations, says fundivo.com.

People don't just love Halloween for themselves and their kids --  who doesn't love to see a dog dressed up?
