The award is in recognition of Quinn's devotion to Support Connection’s mission over the past 20 years, said a release.
Quinn studied accounting and earned her MBA, then worked in international banking, and later became the business director of a domestic violence center.
"I wanted to be in an environment where I could make a difference in people’s lives," she said.
In 1995 Quinn attended the first Support-A-Walk for breast and ovarian cancer to support a friend who had breast cancer.
When volunteers were sought to plan the next walk, Quinn volunteered. A group of 20 volunteers gathered to discuss ideas to start an organzation to help women with breast and ovarian cancer.
Quinn prepared needed documentation, collaborating with professionals, and organized volunteers for Support Connection, which opened in 1996. Support Connection Inc. offers a wide range of free support groups women with breast and ovarian cancer.
We received our first call for support within an hour," said Quinn.
