Police were notified on Wednesday and said there was a bear on his alpaca farm, according to Officer Beth Sherwood of the Yorktown Police.

Alpacas are long-haired domesticated mammals from South America related to the llama.

The bear was chased off by police officers and did not cause any damage, Sherwood said.

Yorktown police advised residents with several safety tips including removing bird feeders, not leaving garbage outside, and not leaving small children or pets unattended.

Bear tracks were first spotted in Yorktown in March.
