CARMEL, N.Y. -- Marie Dunn, a Stormville mother of two who was run over in the parking lot of ShopRite in Carmel last November, passed away Sunday after a putting up a "great fight" to recover, according to her fiancé.

"It was just too much" for Dunn to recover, said her fiancé, Henry Zetwick on Monday morning.

She had been living and receiving treatment at the Northeast Center for Rehabilitation and Brain Injury after suffering a broken pelvis and skull as well as head trauma in the accident.

But she had taken a turn for the worse last Wednesday and gone into cardiac arrest, Zetwick said via email.

Her children decided to donate all of Dunn's organs as per her wishes, he said.

Her wake will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Ave., Carmel.

After her setback last week, he had said the prognosis was not good as she was placed back in an induced coma

"We need prayers right now for Marie and to keep our little family together," he said at the time.

Earlier last week, Zetwick had shared news of Dunn's 50th birthday , which was on Friday, Aug. 5.

After the accident in November, Dunn was placed in an induced coma. She suffered a broken pelvis and head trauma. Both sides of her skull were broken, and she suffered bleeding on and in the brain.

A GoFundMe page had been launched for the family. So far, the Care for Marie Dunn and Children GoFundMe page has raised $2,920, but its goal is to hit $30,000.
