To the editor:

Congratulations to Supervisor Michael Grace and his fellow board members for reportedly being one of the first municipalities in the United States to utilize cutting-edge 21-century camera technology to combat littering.

No doubt this will have an impact on illegal dumping in Yorktown. State-of-the-art camera systems will .be installed to catch litterbugs in the act in areas where they think no one is watching.

What if Grace took a low-tech approach and utilized a 1980s-. era camcorder and put it in town hall. Taxpayers finally could see what's happening at all of his closed-door work sessions.

We finally could see all the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing that goes into Yorktown politics. We would be able to see what our politicians do when they think no one is watching.

It's ironic the same politicians that go out of their way to put cameras in public areas are the same ones so resistant to putting a camera on themselves while they conduct official taxpayer business.
