A 48-year-old man has been charged with stealing $167,000 from a  Westchester couple over the course of several years, police said.

Detectives from the Rye Brook Police Department charged Eric S. Jackier of Barker Avenue in White Plains with grand larceny in the second degree, a C felony on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Jackier is accused of swindling the money over a four-year period from an elderly Rye Brook couple after he claimed to be an expert who can facilitate the payment of Veteran’s benefits from the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs, police said.

He gave himself the title of “Non-Attorney Representative” that handles Veteran Affairs and Social Security cases, according to police.

From Aug. 1, 2013 to Oct. 4, 2017, Jackier would request payments from his victims to cover expenses that he claimed were necessary in order for him to secure benefits for the victims from the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs, added police.

The police investigation determined that Jackier never made any attempt to secure benefits for his victims.

It is possible that Jackier has defrauded other victims that have yet to be identified, police said, adding that anyone who has information is asked to contact the Rye Brook Police Department or the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

The case was investigated by the Rye Brook Police Department in conjunction with the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.

Jackier was arraigned on Thursday, Feb. 1 by Judge John Colangelo of the Rye Town Court and was released on $15,000.00 bond. His next appearance in Rye Town Court will be on Feb. 21.
