Graham's Rodi Gallery is a mobile art gallery in the back of a retrofitted 12-foot step van refashioned as a exhibition space, according to a press release. After an inaugural show featuring the work of Brooklyn artist Torey Thornton, the gallery is heading up to Beacon in October. The truck will be parked at the Beacon train station from noon until 5 p.m. where the artists hope to snare gallery goers on their way to DIA Beacon.

“There are great pockets of interest in art outside of the bottlenecked, New York City gallery model. I want to deliver high quality, compelling art exhibits anywhere I park my truck” said Graham, founder and curator of Rodi Gallery, in the release. “Every location and stop will be an event”.

The gallery’s website will track the trucks route and provide additional information about upcoming exhibitions.

Rodi Gallery is a cross generational project with Graham’s son, Aaron Graham, an artist and recent Cooper Union graduate.

“He provides a conduit to a generation of artists looking for new possibilities for exhibiting their work,” Elise Graham said in the release.

Elise Graham, who holds a BFA from Cornell University and an MFA from Hunter College, also opened a “pop-up” gallery in a vacant storefront in Northern Westchester in 2009 where she showed her work. Last year, she held an exhibition called “Art in the Woods” where her collages were installed on trees in the Hemlock Brook Preserve in Yorktown.

“Experiencing contemporary art need not be confined to the four walls of a museum or gallery," Graham said in the release. "That’s why I created Rodi Gallery. We want to connect with new audiences and offer artists a new exhibition alternative”.
