YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Edwin R. Ahr, a Yorktown Heights resident, died Oct. 6. He was 87.
Ahr served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1944-46 as a seaman first class. Later, he served honorably in the Korean War in the 11th Airborne Ranger Company and the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Unit. He was an auditor for 45 years for Blue Cross/Blue Shield retiring May 14, 1993.
Ahr is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille; children, Teresa Hurwitz (Jess), Thomas (Cathy), Richard, Paul (Jennifer); and seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Allyson, Christopher, Tony, Chandra, Madeleine, Emilie.
Family and friends will honor his life from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Yorktown Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at 10:15 a.m. Saturday. Entombment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
