YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Joseph DaRonco, Sr. died Friday at the age of 77.
DaRonco was born in 1939 in Mt. Vernon to Lee and Kathryn DaRonco. He graduated Yorktown High School in 1956 and later worked at General Foods in White Plains for 33 years. He also met Dianne, his wife, at General Foods.
DaRonco battled an illness for 25 long years with Dianne by his side daily. Prior to this, DaRonco had a love for cars, his landscaping, and watching his son play baseball. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and strong will to live.
Joe is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dianne; son Joseph II, daughter-in-law Lina, grandchildren Joseph III and Taylor, all of Yorktown; his brother Thomas of East Dennis, MA; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Calling hours are Thursday, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights. The Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, 10 a.m., at New St. Patrick’s Church. Interment will follow at Amawalk Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yorktown Heights Fire Department (which he was previously a volunteer) or the Yorktown Ambulance Corps.
