YORKTOWN, N.Y. A 30-year-old Bronx man has been arrested on charges of using counterfeit bills to pay for food at Bob-B-Qs in Shrub Oak, police said.
The charges date to July 24, 2011, when a man used two counterfeit $20 bills and allegedly stole $8 from the tip jar, according to police. Officers identified Vito Cerbone as the suspect from restaurant surveillance tape.
They were unable to locate Cerbone, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on Sept. 21. Cerbone was eventually found at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility in New York City, where he was being held on an unrelated charge, police said.
Cerbone was processed and arraigned in Yorktown, then returned to Rikers Island without bail. He is scheduled to return to court Oct. 16.
