Cortlandt Man Charged Following Crash Near Route 132 In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have charged a 64-year-old resident of Cortlandt Manor with driving without a valid licence, police said.

The arrest came about when an officer responded to the area of East Main Street and Pine Court near Route 132 for a property damage auto accident on Friday, according to police.

During the accident investigation, it was discovered that one of the drivers, identified as Wayne Schneider, had allegedly been operating his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, police said.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Yorktown Police Department; he has been charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, an unclassified misdemeanor, according to police.

Following processing, Schneider was issued an appearance ticket and released after posting $100 bail, police said.

The defendant is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Nov. 29, according to police.
