Joseph Faraone, 69, made national headlines after he abused a 50-year-old female patient at a local nonprofit human service organization where he worked in August 2015, according to state police.
Faraone, who currently lives at the Bel Aire Motor Lodge on Route 22, was charged with sodomizing someone incapable of consent due to a mental disability or incapacity.
Faraone served as an associate pastor at Church of St. Denis in Hopewell Junction between 2004 and 2006 before leaving the priesthood. Before working at St. Dennis, Faraone served for 12 years at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel, for 11 years in Yorktown at St. Patrick's Church, and at St. Francis of Assisi in Mount Kisco.
During his time in Yorktown, Faraone won $1.1 million in the New York State Lottery.
Being listed as a "level three" offender means that he is likely to offend again, the Sheriff's Office said.
He is currently under the supervision of the Putnam County Probation Department and is subject to conditions of probation.
