Mohegan Lake Woman Charged After Altercation With Yorktown Officer

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested a Mohegan Lake woman after she was accused of striking and pushing a police officer.

The incident stemmed from a harassment call on Country Place in Mohegan Lake on Wednesday, according to officials.

An officer was dispatched to the scene, where he attempted to separate the disputants; one of the parties, now identified as Maria Varone, 52, allegedly struck the officer’s arm and pushed past him, police report.

Varone was arrested at the scene and transported to Yorktown police headquarters, police report.

She has been charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a class A misdemeanor, according to police.

After processing, Varone was released on her own recognizance to a family member, according to officials.

She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Feb. 9, police report.
