A registered sex offender from Mount Vernon has reportedly been arrested in connection to a December bank robbery in White Plains, where a suspect made off with nearly $4,000.

A multi-agency law enforcement investigation led police to Columbus Avenue resident Marcus Long, who was charged with a felony count of first-degree robbery after he allegedly stole $3,900 from KeyBank in White Plains on last year. According to a lohud report , Long was traced to a home in Poughkeepsie before his arrest.

Wearing a black ski mask, police said that Long allegedly walked into KeyBank shortly after 4 p.m. on Dec. 18, jumping on the counter and demanding cash from the teller. He allegedly showcased a weapon under his jacket. Police arrived in short order, but the suspect was able to take off on foot with the cash.

During the investigation, police reviewed hours of surveillance video from the bank and evaluated other pieces of evidence. According to the report , Long was tracked to a Muldowney Circle home in Poughkeepsie, where he was staying. Police in White Plains were assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and local police in Poughkeepsie.

A Level 3 sex offender, Long - who was convicted of sexually abusing a 15-year-old in 1999 - moved to Mount Vernon in October last year.

Long was transported to White Plains on Tuesday and charged in White Plains Court. Bail and future court appearance information was not immediately available on Wednesday morning.
