In a post Monday, the department recognized police officers Brian Mundy and Robert Pavletich for becoming certified D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officers.

On Jan. 27, Mundy and Pavletich, along with several officers from across the United States, completed a two-week training course in Montour Falls, N.Y., according to the post.

According to Yorktown's D.A.R.E. website, Yorktown police officers administer the program to fifth- and sixth-grade students in the Yorktown and Lakeland school districts.
