Members of the Scarsdale Police Department were dispatched to Walworth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. on July 18, where there was a report of the crash. Upon arrival, officers found White Plains resident Masato Nagatani sitting on the curb with “glassy and bloodshot” eyes.

Police said that Nagatani, 48, had slurred speech, and when prompted for his phone number, was unable to remember it. When he stood up to get his phone from his back pocket, officers said that he was “swaying and unsteady on his feet.” When asked, Nagatani said that he had “two beers.”

Nagatani proceeded to fail multiple Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and a breathalyzer determined his blood alcohol content was .19 percent. Nagatani was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content greater than .18 percent, both misdemeanors.

Following his arraignment, Nagatani was released and is due back in court on Wednesday to answer the charges.
