Yorktown Man Charged With Menacing After Waving A Knife, Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Ira Saunders, a 72-year-old Yorktown resident, has been charged with menacing in the second degree after waving a knife during a landlord tenant dispute on Thursday, according to Yorktown police.

Police said they received a report of a landlord/tenant dispute involving menacing with a knife. Investigation at the scene revealed that Saunders had brandished a pocket knife during the dispute putting the landlord in fear of her safety, according to police. Police recovered the knife and Saunders was placed under arrest, police said.

He was transported to police headquarters for processing. Following processing, he was arraigned by a judge and released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Feb. 26, at 6 p.m.
