Murphy (R-Yorktown), leads Democratic challenger Ali Boak, a Pound Ridge resident 45,913 votes to 28,163 votes.

In Westchester, Murphy leads 22,486 votes to 19,077 votes with 45 percent of the vote in. In Putnam, Murphy leads 18,395 votes to 7,623 votes with all of the vote in. Murphy won 6,163 votes to 2,764 votes. Unofficial results are from the Westchester, Dutchess and Putnam County Board of Elections.

The 40th Senate District includes Beekman and Pawling in Dutchess County, Carmel, Patterson and Southeast and Brewster in Putnam County, and Peekskill, Cortlandt, Lewisboro, Mount Pleasant, New Castle, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers, Yorktown, Mount Kisco, Briarcliff Manor, Buchanan, Croton-on-Hudson, Pleasantville and Sleepy Hollow in Westchester.
