The rescue took place around 6 p.m. after the department received a call about an unconscious person at 701 Piermont Ave., said Daniel Goswich, ex fire chief with the department.
When Assistant Chief Daniel Goswick Jr. arrived at the address he was met by family members who told him the unconscious person was on a boat somewhere south of the Tappan Zee bridge.
Goswick immediately notified the dive team and marine unit who who put boats in water, along with a family member to help locate the ill boater's vessel, Goswich said.
When firefighters arrived on scene they found three people who were stricken with severe dehydration -- heat stroke -- and one was in and out of consciousness.
Gowick said the patients were immediately transported from the private vessel to the department's marine unit, where EMTs assessed their condition and treated them. When they arrived back at the marina each of the patients were further evaluated and taken to Nyack Hospital .
The three patients were held for a few hours for evaluation and released.
