Cosmetology Students Pamper Putnam Teachers In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Cosmetology students at The Tech Center showed both their appreciation and their skill to teachers and mentors from their home school districts by providing them with manicures, pedicures, and new hair styles at the Cosmo Spring Event held on the PNW BOCES campus recently.

Senior Mary Avanzato gave her Carmel High School guidance counselor Juliet Powers a new hair style

. “This is amazing,” said Powers. “I feel so pampered.

Mahopac High School senior Shannon Browne said the program has been life changing.

 “I gained a family and a trade I will be able to use for the rest of my life,” she said. 

Following the makeovers, students and their guests were treated to a gourmet breakfast prepared by culinary students at The Tech Center. 

“You are an amazing group of students,” said Tech Center Principal Steve Lowery at the breakfast. “We are extremely proud of your work ethic."
