Silva, a student in the school’s Dual Language Program, was also accompanied by Debra Williams, the Village of Elmsford’s First Lady, who also served as “Superintendent for a Day,” a first-time initiative at the district. Both were selected as “superintendents” through a raffle conducted at the Dixson Primary School, which serves students in pre-kindergarten through first grade.
One of the first tasks that DeBorba-Silva performed before taking the tour of the high school and later the Alice E. Grady Elementary School was to sign in as superintendent. She was also given a special school ID, which she wore around her neck the whole time during the half-day tour, which also included a special visit to her nine-year-old brother’s class at Grady Elementary. Silva was also presented with a nameplate and a certificate to mark the occasion.
To finish off the experience, she shared a lunch with Ricca and other staff and was given a goodie bag filled with some of her favorite things.
