CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- Perhaps the premier boys lacrosse rivalry in the Hudson Valley added another chapter Thursday, as perennial Section 1 champion Yorktown paid a visit to John Jay of Cross River.
The defending champion Cornhuskers ended up taking a close decision, 9-7, with Kyle Casey providing four goals for Yorktown.
Justin Cavallo had a hat trick and dished out three assists for Yorktown, which improved to 5-2.
Yorktown overcame a 5-1 halftime deficit to pull out the win.
John Jay fell to 4-2 with the loss.
