State Dismisses Charges Against 71-Year-Old Fugitive Found In Sherman SHERMAN, Conn. -- A Connecticut Superior Court judge has dismissed the charges against a 71-year-old Sherman man who was arrested earlier this year after 48 years as a fugitive from Georgia, according to the Hartford Courant. Robert Stackowitz broke out of the Carroll County Prison Work Camp in Georgia in August 1968 while serving a 17-year prison sentence for robbery.
