Disoriented Resident Rescued, 3 Hurt In Sterling House Fire: Officials
Firefighters rescued one civilian and three people were injured in a Loudoun County fire last week. At 8:21 p.m., Friday, May 3, fire and rescue units responded to a house fire in the 45000 block of Old Ox Road in Sterling where flames were shooting out of the home, and one person was still inside, officials said. Firefighters made entry, quickly extinguishing the fire, and rescued one occupant who had become disoriented and overcome by smoke. Student, 16, Brings Metal Knuckles To Freedom High School: Cops
A 16-year-old boy from Woodbridge was caught with metal knuckles on school grounds Monday, May 6, police said. A school resource officer found the Freedom High School student in possession of the knuckles while investigating a tip, county police said. Police said that "the knuckles were not part of any threat to other students, faculty, or staff." Officers sought petitions against the boy and after consultation with Juvenile Court Services, the case resulted in formal action and will be handled through the court process at a later date.

Six people were injured and one person killed in a crash in Rockingham County last week, authorities said. A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling east on Route 259 (Brocks Gap Road) when it rear-ended a 2015 Ford E350 bus, which was stopped for another eastbound vehicle making a turn around 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, Virginia State Police said. Tractor Trailer Overturns, Becomes Wedged Under Overpass On NJ Turnpike In Mount Laurel
A portion of the NJ Turnpike was closed in Mount Laurel Tuesday morning, May 7 due to an overnight accident. A Kenworth tractor-trailer was heading southbound when it lost control, struck a guardrail and overturned at milepost 37 around 3:35 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The driver of the Kenworth suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation.

A doctor from Philadelphia who has been working as a librarian at Princeton University but known globally for his scholarly work has died following a pedestrian crash in Scotland. William Noel, 58, was struck by a Citroen Relay van in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 10 in Edinburgh, police in Scotland said.
